About the Laboratory

I started my career fresh out of high school weighing cotton dust filters for my dad, who has been in the Industrial Hygiene (IH) industry for 45 years. Those early days involved long hours of focused, repetitive work, but they built a strong foundation and ignited my lifelong passion for environmental analysis and particle characterization.

When the opportunity arose to learn Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), I jumped at it—even though I had no idea what the acronym stood for at the time. That decision opened the door to a deeper world of materials science. From PLM, I advanced into Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). I went on to manage the Electron Microscopy department for several years before stepping into the role of Assistant Laboratory Director and Special Projects Manager.

In that leadership position, I developed a strong focus on Combustion Byproduct (CBP) analysis. Every project brings its own unique challenges—whether identifying subtle differences in soot, char, and ash from various sources or solving complex forensic and indoor air quality questions. I truly enjoy the investigative nature of this work and the satisfaction of delivering clear, reliable answers.

With nearly 20 years of specialized experience in environmental laboratory testing, Particle Detection Services was founded to provide trusted, high-quality particle detection and analysis. My goal is to deliver the precise results you need—whether for regulatory compliance, forensic investigations, indoor air quality assessments, or custom projects.

I’m committed to combining technical expertise with a personal, responsive approach that larger labs often can’t match. Let’s work together to turn your samples into clear insights.
